After creating your book, what next? The
next thing is to know how to promote your book.
Guess you have spent lot of time, energy, money in creating
a book. Created a good content, got a professional-looking cover, chose
the write category, wrote the description and ready to publish and you think
that’s the end? You just need to take a shower and move to the next face as
this is the crucial part of your book publishing.
There is high competition in book publishing. If you intend
to make sales then you have to market your book. You need to get your book in
front of the right audience. You need to make your audience know that your book
is the solution to their problem. If you promote your book in front of the
wrong audience, then you know you can’t make sales. An example is like
promoting a book about dieting to someone who is slim in stature. Please, what
would such a person need it for? Therefore, you need to get the right audience
and you can achieve this with the steps below:
·
Promoting on websites: If you
have a website then you are good to go. You can use it to market your book. You
might as create a landing page for your book and place advert on your website.
Therefore, they will be redirected to your landing page when they click on your
advert. You can use that opportunity to create a book store on your website to
promote your books and other books you might have publishing or will be
publishing that will be relevant to your audience.
·
Blog post: You
can dedicate a blog post to your book. Make the blog post related to book. You
can ask other related bloggers to write about your book in exchange for link
pointing to your sales page. Do not forget to include a “Direct call to
action”.
·
Email list: You
can use your pre-existing email list to market your book. This is known as solo
ads. If you don’t have an existing email list, I guess it’s time to have one.
Create a squeeze page, promote your squeeze page and give them bonus for
signing up. You can even tell them that you have bonus for them if they promote
among their friends.
· Press release: Write
and distribute a press release about your book. Make sure you talk about how
your book is meant to solve their problem. Press release helps in building
awareness about your book and generate media attention.
· Social media sites: This
is a great way of connection with your target audience and sell your books.
Join your book related groups on Facebook, follow them on Twitter and promote
your book to them. You can as well create an event as it is an ideal
opportunity for connecting with your potential readers and make more sales on
your book.
· Video sharing sites: You
can make video about your book. You don’t need to be a professional before you
can do this as it is quite easy. You can use Camtasia studio to create one.
Just create slide presentation on Microsoft PowerPoint indicating the relevance
of your book and how it can solve their problems, import it to Camtasia Studio,
add background music and you are good to go. It’s quite easy. Share your video
on video sharing sites like Youtube, PhotoBucket among others.
Promoting your book can be very time and energy consuming
just like writing but you know the book can’t sell itself. Invest a bit of your
time and energy into your book promotion plan if you want to make more sales.
Do not forget to share among your friends and “see you on
the other side”
